PA Alternative Energy Legislation - Now or Never
HB 80, one of the most important pieces of legislation for the solar industry in PA's history, kicked around the PA House of Representatives for over a year. Now HB80 has a new life.
It is now HB#2405 and has a new chief sponsor: Rep. Eugene DePasquale, York. The bill is stronger for the solar industry and recent coalition building has created a large and effective group to counter our well-mobilized opponents, the utility companies and the PA Chamber of Business and Industry.
We have 6 weeks to pass HB2405!
The bill puts in place measures to enable financing for solar projects and provide reliability and price stability to PA’s energy grid through the increased use of solar and other renewables. (Specifically, the bill increases the solar share of PA’s Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard from .5% to 3%, front loads SREC requirements in the early years of the ramp-up to avoid a saturated market, and sets a firm Alternative Compliance Payment.) HB2405 ensures the continued growth of the PA solar industry and positions PA to be a leading solar market in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Call your representatives and tell them to pass HB2405 now to support jobs, businesses and solar in PA!
